New Delhi, Aug 14: The win for the NDA in the Rajya Sabha deputy chairman elections was a major victory for the combine and a blow for the opposition. The jubilant scenes in the BJP camp following Harivansh’s victory were quite expected.
Hyderabad, Aug 9: The Telangana Rashtra Samithi will throw its weight behind the NDA candidate for the Rajya Sabha deputy chairman elections to be held today. The NDA has fielded the JD(U)’s Harivansh against B K Hariprasad of the Congress.
Telangana faces a crucial election in 2019 when both the assembly and state goes to polls. The TRS is the ruling party and it would have a big challenge from the Congress which is in the opposition.

The plans to set up a third front are no doubt intensifying, but the inclusion of the Congress could hamper the idea in the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Mamata Banerjee has been leading the bandwagon and is trying to get like-minded parties including the Congress on board.
New Delhi, Feb 6: The Telangana Rastriya Samithi took all its opponents to the cleaners by bagging 99 of the 150 seats in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Council Polls. An unwritten rule in such a scenario is that the state electoral officer normally waits for a green signal from the ruling government before the elections are announced.
The streets of Hyderabad resembled a major festival with people dancing and singing to several tunes including the state song Jaya Jaya He Telangana.
There were no sings of the celebrations stopping and even at the moment the streets are filled with people who are waiting for their new Chief Minister to be sworn in.
