New Delhi, June 13: There is a mystery surrounding the firing by the Nepal border guards in which one Indian national was killed.
The Sahastra Seema Bal (SSB), the border on the Indian side said that the issue was a completely local one. This emerged out of a local altercation, India has maintained.
In a bid to bolster India’s defence on the eastern borders, over 2,000 personnel will be transferred from the Sashastra Seema Bal to the Intelligence Bureau. A total of 2,765 posts of the civilian cadre of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) will be shifted to the IB command over the next year. Of these posts, 2,039 are operational.
The centre has given its nod for setting up 650 combat posts for better intelligence gathering. This would add strength to the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), the force guarding India’s borders with Nepal and Bhutan.
The Delhi police appears to be fighting its case despite being on a back foot following the arrest of Sayeed Liyaqat Shah. The police have now released a sketch alleged to be an aide of Shah.
On a close reading of the case, it appears that the Delhi police have got this case a bit muddled up. Sources say that it would be a face saving exercise from now on and the issue will be given a quiet burial once the National Investigation Agency takes over the case. Even though the Home Minister, Sushil Kumar Shinde has said that the NIA would take over the case, it would be quite sometime before the hand over actually happens. The Delhi police would try and put up a case to ensure that it does not lose face. Continue reading “Hizbul arrest- Has the Delhi police got it wrong?”
