US warships in South China Sea send a strong signal to Beijing

New Delhi, Feb 10: In a clear sign that the Joe Biden administration would continue the Trump administration’s tough policy on China, two American aircraft carriers including the USS Nimitz conducted military exercises in the South China Sea. 

The coordinated operations combining ships and planes of the two strike groups, Theodore Roosevelt and Nimitz were carried out. This is a clear sign of the US Navy’s ability to operating in such challenging environments, the US Pacific Fleet said in a statement. An angry Beijing said that the exercises are an effort by the US to flex its muscles.

Indian Military’s Kavach is a message to Beijing that Indian Ocean Region isn’t South China Sea

New Delhi, Jan 21: The Indian Military will execute high-intensity offensive and defensive manoeuvres in the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal in an exercise. Codenamed Kavach or shield.

The military drill be coordinated by the Port Blair based Andaman and Nicobar Command. The defence ministry announced on Thursday that the exercise will be carried out next week to fine-tune joint warfighting capabilities and sharpen operational synergy between the three services.

New Delhi, Sep 21: The People’s Liberation Army has mobilised four of the five of its military theatre commands. 

Reports have suggested that live-firing drills and exercises from the East China Sea, the Yellow Sea to the South China Sea were a diversion for its aggression in Ladakh. A report in the Nikkei Asian Review said that the PLA mobilised its Southern Theatre Command, which oversees the South China Sea, Northern Theatre Command, which oversees the Korean Peninsula and the Eastern Theatre Command, which oversees Japan and Taiwan.

China installs rocket launchers on disputed reef in South China sea

chinarocketThe Chinese have installed rocket launchers on a disputed reef in the South China sea. This according to a state-run newspaper was done to ward off Vietnamese military combat divers.

The state-run Defense Times newspaper, in a Tuesday report on its WeChat account, said Norinco CS/AR-1 55mm anti-frogman rocket launcher defense systems with the capability to discover, identify and attack enemy combat divers had been installed on Fiery Cross Reef in the Spratly Islands.
