Pandemic will end in 2022 only if…Here is what the WHO chief said 

New Delhi, Jan 01: Chief of the World Health Organisation, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has said that COVID-19 will end in 2022 only if we end inequality together. The WHO chief was delivering a New Year address as the world entered the third year into the pandemic. 

“While no country is out of the woods from the pandemic, we have many new tools to prevent and treat COVID-19. The longer inequity continues, the higher the risks of this virus evolving in ways we can’t prevent or predict. If we end inequity, we end the pandemic,” he said.

On COVID-19 origin, White House adviser says need transparent process from China

Washington, May 26: The world needs to get to the bottom of the origins of COVID-19, a senior White House coronavirus adviser has said. He also said that the World Health Organisation and China have to do more to reach the definitive answers in the matter.

“It is our position that we need to get to the bottom of this and we need a completely transparent process from China. We need the WHO (World Health Organization) to assist in that matter. We don’t feel like that we have that now,” Andy Slavitt, White House adviser said.

False: WHO has not termed B.1.617 as Indian variant, remove such reports says govt

New Delhi, May 22: There are media reports referring to the new strain of COVID-19 as an Indian variant. The government has said that this information is false. 

In a release, the Union Government said that this is completely FALSE. There is no such variant of Covid-19 scientifically cited as such by the World Health Organisation (WHO). WHO has not associated the term “Indian Variant” with the B.1.617 variant of the coronavirus in any of its reports.
