The MOAB or Mother of All Bombs did not just kill operatives of the Islamic State in Afghanistan. Reports emerging suggest that terrorists of the Tehrik-e-Taliban and the Lashkar-e-Tayiba too were killed in the bombing by the United States at Nangarhar, Afghanistan last week. Interestingly, there is also confirmation of retired Pakistan army officer being killed in the bombing.
Sopore in Kashmir continues to live in fear as a mysterious militant group continues to carry out selective attacks. Attacks on the telecom sector and now the killing of former militants have raised questions and a lesser known group called the Lashkar-e-Islam is being blamed for the same. The separatists were quick to call the Lashkar-e-Islam a creation of the Indian Intelligence agencies (R&AW and IB). Tailors have been warned not to take measurements of ladies, house owners have been told not rent their properties to outsiders while shop keepers have been warned against the sale of cigarettes. While there is no doubt that these are acts of the Hizbul Mujahideen, they continue to spread terror in the name of groups such as the Tehrik-e-Taliban and the Lashkar-e-Islam which have never been interested in Kashmir.
A major division in the world of terror over ideology could well turn out to be a blessing in disguise for security agencies across the world. There is a clear divide today in the world of terror and this is largely a result of the brutal ways of the ISIS. While the Al-Qaeda has already distanced itself from the ISIS, another outfit, believe it, the Tehrik-e-Taliban or the Pakistan Taliban too has termed the ISIS to be too brutal.
