New Delhi, Dec 23: The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a 35 year old man from Srinagar on charges of running an online child abuse racket targeting minors living in the USA. The operation was successfully carried out on the basis of a tip off by the FBI.
The CBI learnt that the accused Niyaz Ahmed Mir would upload pornographic videos and images over the dark web for financial gains. He was also in touch with many minors in the USA. The agency said that the racket was being run by Mir along with his USA based wife, Tamara Stanley, who was involved in a master-slave relationship with her husband.
New Delhi, Feb 27: Local recruitment and terror attacks have gone down considerably in Jammu and Kashmir. While this is an impressive development, the Indian Army has however flagged concerns on the rise in violations along the Line of Control.
With regard to the recruitment, sources tell OneIndia that in 2018 220 youth had joined terror outfits as opposed to the 120 in 2019. This is a remarkable dip and the figures will be much lower in 2020, the source also added.
New Delhi, Nov 23: Security restrictions from the Jamia Masjid area in Srinagar were lifted for the first time since the abrogation of Article 370. The Mosque, however, remained shut for the 16th Friday in a row since the announcement on Article 370 was made on August 5.0 Police officers said that there were no restrictions imposed in and around the Jamia Masjid on Friday.
The management was also asked to open the Mosque and hold prayers. The Mosque authorities, however, did not open the Mosque as Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was under house arrest. Farooq who heads the committee also delivers the sermon at the Mosque. The administration has however denied that Farooq is under house arrest at his Nigeen residence.
New Delhi, Sep 26: National Security Advisor (NSA), Ajit Doval took stock of the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir during his visit. He arrived in Srinagar on Wednesday amidst several intelligence inputs suggesting that Pakistan is upping the ante and would look to carry out strikes in J&K.
There was an orange alert that was issued after the intelligence reported that 8 terrorists of the Jaish-e-Mohammad would look to strike at an airbase. Further, the Punjab Police found that drones from Pakistan had dropped off arms and ammunition at the border. It was also found that the arms were to be smuggled into J&K.
Srinagar, Sep 15: A high alert has been declared in Srinagar after Intelligence Bureau officials warned of a major terror attack in the wake of terrorists sneaking in.
Following the alert, search operations have been intensified in Srinagar. The security forces were told that a batch of terrorists may have sneaked into Srinagar and are trying to carry out a big strike.
New Delhi, Mar 19:Moderate Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq did not appear before the NIA in New Delhi on Monday for questioning in connection with a terror funding case and said he was willing to be quizzed here as he fears for his security in the national capital.
Srinagar, Sep 9: A militant, apparently belonging to Islamic State in Jammu and Kashmir (IS-JK), was shot dead by unidentified gunmen here in the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, police said.
On Tuesday terrorists attacked a police party following which a dreaded Lashkar-e-Tayiba terrorist, Abu Hanzala managed to escape at Srinagar. The incident took place at the Shri Maharaja Hari Singh Hospital.
