SITs to be set up to probe anti CAB violence in UP

img_0226New Delhi, Dec 27: The UP police has been directed to constitute a Special Investigation Team to probe the violence that broke out during the protests against the newly amended citizenship law.

The order issued by the Director General of Police, O P Singh said that all district police chiefs may depute an officer of the ASP rank to supervise the investigation. In all the SITs would be constituted in seven districts.

Gulberg massacre: SIT wants death sentences for 11 convicts

gulberg_society480New Delhi, Aug 20: The Special Investigating Team (SIT) which probed the Gulberg Society massacre has told the Gujarat government that there is a scope to enhance the sentence of 11 convicts who were handed a life term by the trial court.
In its opinion to the state government the SIT has said that it is a fit case to file an appeal and seek death sentence to the 11 persons.

SIT can now prosecute former Karnataka Lokayukta in graft case

The sanction has been granted under Section 197 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

Justice Rao who stepped down as the Lokayukta had come under the scanner following the arrest of his son, Ashwin. It was alleged that Ashwin was running an extortion racket. It was further alleged that Justice Rao had known about it and even delayed action against his son.

AgustaWestland: Forming SIT indicates govt means business

A 1984 batch IPS officer of the Gujarat cadre, Asthana had also probed the fodder scam.
