riyazBengaluru, Dec 14: For long Indian agencies believed that the founder of the Indian Mujahideen, Riyaz Bhatkal lived in Sharjah. One evening when a group of officials from the Intelligence Bureau were working on some leads relating to the IM, an ID called menothing1 popped up.
This was an ID that was created on the Nimbuzz messaging platform. The year was 2012 and it was for the first time that an electronic trail had been found. Riyaz was chatting with Yasin Bhatkal who was at that time the leader of the outfit. The IB officials tracked down this ID to Pakistan. It was then that they realized that the founder of the IM had made a home for himself in the Defence Colony in Karachi, Pakistan.

ISI paid Riyaz Bhatkal Rs 26 crore to bomb India

Bhatkal explosives case- Four IM operatives chargesheeted

Four members of the Indian Mujahideen have been chargesheeted by the Bengaluru police in connection with various cases which also includes supplying of explosives.
The chargesheeted persons are Syed Ismail Afaaque, Syed Suboor, Saddam Hussain and Riyaz Ahmed Sayeedi. The chargesheet states that these persons were also in touch with Riyaz Bhatkal, Iqbal Shahbandri and Ateef who are currently in Karachi.
The charges: It is the contention of the police in the chargesheet that large quantity of electronic detonators, gelatin sticks, ammonium nitrate, jihadi literature and posters and assembled circuit boards to be used in bomb blasts have been recovered and seized on the information of the arrested persons.
