Abdus Subhan Qureshi has revealed that he met with Indian Mujahideen co-founder Riyaz Bhatkal in Saudi Arabia a few months prior to his arrest. He said that the meeting was fixed up in Saudi Arabia as it was not possible for him to travel to Pakistan where Riyaz is residing.
New Delhi, April 14: In the summer of 2010, the chief of the Indian Mujahideen, Yasin Bhatkal made a phone call to his boss Riyaz in Karachi.
During the conversation, Riyaz asked Yasin where he had sourced the explosives for the 2008 Gujarat blasts from. The reply was from Kerala.
For the Indian Mujahideen sourcing explosives was no difficult job. They managed to source explosives with much ease and use it as will in the series of blasts that they had undertaken.
New Delhi, Nov 24: When it comes to the Indian Mujahideen (IM), there are always interesting tit bits about the manner in which the outfit functioned.
The favourite alias that the operatives of the IM used was Sharukh Khan. Be it Riyaz or Yasin Bhatkal, both chose the alias Sharukh Khan.
Four members of the Indian Mujahideen have been chargesheeted by the Bengaluru police in connection with various cases which also includes supplying of explosives.
The chargesheeted persons are Syed Ismail Afaaque, Syed Suboor, Saddam Hussain and Riyaz Ahmed Sayeedi. The chargesheet states that these persons were also in touch with Riyaz Bhatkal, Iqbal Shahbandri and Ateef who are currently in Karachi.
The charges: It is the contention of the police in the chargesheet that large quantity of electronic detonators, gelatin sticks, ammonium nitrate, jihadi literature and posters and assembled circuit boards to be used in bomb blasts have been recovered and seized on the information of the arrested persons.
Chatter between two terrorists is always scary to listen in to. While they tend to discuss a lot of aspects, the detailing into the making of a bomb is particularly an interesting conversation as they discuss every aspect.
Questions such as the shape of the bomb and the intensity of the same are all discussed in detail.
There is an interesting aspect about any terrorist group. They will loot, steal, collect a ransom but will never take a loan.
Terrorists consider loans as un-Islamic and hence would prefer to do anything under the sun to raise money.
Take a look at the ISIS, which is going around capturing cities and taking over oil wells. All of them need money and hence the more the merrier.
But, what about a relatively smaller group like the SIMI or the Indian Mujahideen. They rely on robbery, abduction and sale of arms in the black market to raise funds.

While it does make for interesting reading especially those parts relating to his job application form and his very emotional letter to his wife, the one burning question that needs to be asked is do we know everything as yet?
Among the several 100 files that had been declassified the portions that made for interesting reading are the job application form where Osama assumes the role of a Human Resources Department head and also a letter to his wife where he tells her that she is free to marry provided she chooses him in paradise.Read more
