China plays ‘friends’ with Nepal but India checkmates with trade tact

Beijing has been making attempts galore to reduce Nepal’s dependence on India. But Nepal cannot distance itself from India because Kathmandu is dependent on Indian ports to facilitate its trade across different parts of the world.

New Delhi, Aug 30: In recent years, China has stepped up activities in Nepal. In the past, Nepal’s Tibetan community of 25,000 were China’s primary’s concerns and today Beijing interferes in Nepal’s internal affairs too.

During that visit, PM Modi declared that ties between India and Nepal are unshakeable like the Himalayas. He also emphasised that India and Nepal’s ever strengthening friendship would benefit the entire humanity in the emerging global situation.

Jianchao, during his visit, held a 45-minute discussion with Nepal’s Prime Minister, Sher Bahadur Deuba during which he stressed on the importance of China-Nepal ties. He also urged CPN (UML) Chairman K P Oli and CPN (MC) leader Pushpa Kumar Dahal, also known as Prachanda, to work in unison to ensure the continuing importance of the communists in the Nepal government.

Accept mistake that’s the only way: Prachanda faction to Oli

New Delhi, Dec 31: The P K Dahal aka Prachanda faction which is at logger heads with Nepal’s Prime Minister, K P Oli has said that the only way out of the crisis is for the decision on the dissolution of Parliament being reversed.

Former prime minister, Madhav Kumar Nepal said that the only way the crisis would be resolved is if Oli accepts his mistake.

Success eludes China in its bid to patch up Nepal crisis

New Delhi, Dec 28: A high-level team of the Communist Party officials are in Nepal to broker peace within the Nepal Communist Party, which is heading for a split.

Chinese President, Xi Jinping sent a team to Nepal to broker peace after Ambassador Hou Yanqi failed to stop the split in the NCP.

Oli-Prachanda talks remain inconclusive: Next meet on July 18

New Delhi, July 06: There has been no consensus between Nepal’s Prime Minister, K P Oli and Puspha Kamal Dahal. The two chairs of the Nepal’s Communist Party met today to discuss ways of de-escalating the tensions within the party. Both leaders were unable to reach any consensus as a result of which, it was decided to meet again and resolve issues. The next meeting would be Heldon July 18.

New Delhi, June 30: Four top leaders of Nepal’s Communist Party including Prachanda have sought proof from Prime Minister, K P Oli about his allegation that India was trying to topple his government. Pushpa Kamal Dahal or Prachanda said that it is not India, but he himself who is seeking Oli’s resignation.
