NGT bans construction in Delhi for a week

delsmogThe National Green Tribunal has ordered a one week ban on construction in Delhi. The order was passed while the NGT was hearing a case relating to the rising pollution levels in the National Capital. The NGT today said that it is banning construction of any type in Delhi for a week.

Earlier the NGT came down heavily on the governments of Delhi and Punjab for failing to curb pollution. Why are you using cranes to sprinkle water with cranes instead of helicopters, the National Green Tribunal asked the Delhi government.Pulling up the Arvind Kejriwal led Delhi government, the NGT sought to know if there was any data that showed the reduction of smog in the National Capital.

NGT stays construction of steel flyover at Bengaluru

No construction zone around Bengaluru lakes: SC to hear plea

lakesBengaluru, June 15: When the Supreme Court opens after its summer break, it would hear a petition filed by the realtors from Bengaluru who are up in arms against a ruling that increased the no-construction zone around the water bodies.
While the realtors have been crying foul, environmentalists say that this was an order that ought to have been passed 15 years back. The National Green Tribunal had in May 2016 increased the no-construction zone around lakes in the city from 30 to 75 metres.
