Arrests of top separatists in the Kashmir Valley is just round the corner with the National Investigation Agency unearthing shocking details in the Hurriyat terror funding case. The questioning of Shahid Islam, a key aide of Mirwaiz Umer Farooq has revealed that funds were being routed into Kashmir not just through Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, but from London and Dubai as well. Shahid was arrested in July along with scores of others in connection with the case.

In a brazen show of anti-nationalism, Kashmiri separatist leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq cheered for the Pakistan Cricket Team after its win over England in the first semi-final match of the ICC Champions Trophy.
Several locals took to the streets and burst crackers in Kashmir. In a tweet, the chairman of Hurriyat Forum tweeted, “As we were finishing taraweeh, could hear the fire crackers bursting, well played team #Paksitan. Best of luck for the finals!”
As the National Investigation Agency probes into funding of separatists in the Valley, it would be interesting to revisit a 2006 probe. The probe was relating to Nasir Shafi Mir who is accused of funding several Hurriyat leaders in Kashmir.
The explosive Kashmir issue has become a nuclear flashpoint the Hurriyat Conference has said. A meeting held under the leadership of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq urged the centre to initiate a meaningful dialogue to find a lasting solution to the Kashmir issue.
