Ahmedabad, Sep 19: The 2014 Lok Sabha elections may have not been the last one that senior BJP leader, L K Advani contested. He is all set to contest the 2019 Lok Sabha polls from the Gandhinagar seat in Gujarat.
It would neither L K Advani nor Mohan Bhagwat who would be the next President of India. Both have ruled themselves out of the race. For sometime the name of actor, Amitabh Bachchan was doing the rounds, but his name too had been dropped after the Panama Papers scandal.
He went on to suggest that Pakistan had come with genuine intentions at striking peace, but it was the then Home Minister Advani’s insistence of asking for Dawood that destroyed the peace talks.
Will BJP veteran L K Advani speak or not at the party’s national executive. These were some of the questions that were posed before a host of BJP leaders who repeatedly came out of the meet to address the media.
There is no clear answer to the question. Some BJP leaders said that there is no need to make a big deal out of this and the focus is on a host of important issues for which the national executive was called in the first place.
As the elections get underway the Intelligence Bureau has drawn out a fresh list which names the top ten politicians in India who are under the scanner of terrorists and naxalites.
The list drawn out by the Intelligence Bureau states the names of ten politicians who are under the radar and also names around 20 police officials across the country who are also on the hit list. The report states that these politicians and officers face threats from the naxalites, Indian Mujahideen, Babbar Khalsa International and the Lashkar-e-Tayiba. It is a hard fought election and the number of rallies going up two fold when compared to the previous elections, the job of the agencies and police officials has only become harder. There are several intercepts that are being gathered on a daily basis and there are many indicators pointing towards major threats to these leaders and officers, an officer with the Intelligence Bureau told rediff.com. -The decision by Jayalalithaa giving an ultimatum to the central government will only ensure the growth of anarchism
– Rahul Gandhi says he is concerned about the decision. What was he doing all these years instead of acting upon the case considering his government was in power?
In probably one of the biggest lows where the national security of India is concerned, an ugly political game has broken over the killers of Rajiv Gandhi. While the Tamil Nadu government has given an ultimatum of three days to decide on whether the killers of Rajiv Gandhi whose death sentences were commuted should be released, the Union Government is contemplating moving the Supreme Court on this issue.
The Bharatiya Janata Party which holds the key to the passage of the Telangana Bill in parliament has decided that it wants a debate on the subject before any final decision is taken. The party leaders who met at senior leader, L K Advani’s residence has decided that it will not oppose the Bill provided the amendments suggested by them are brought in.
The BJP was accused in Telangana of double speak after Sushma Swaraj had said that she did not know that the Bill had been tabled in Parliament on Thursday. The whole of Telangana said that they had seen Sushil Kumar Shinde tabling the bill and they could not understand why Sushma spoke in the contrary despite her party assuring the formation of Telangana since the past ten years.
