New Delhi, Jan 30: The Supreme Court has directed Karti Chidambaram to appear before the Enforcement Directorate for questioninig in connection with the INX Media case.
New Delhi, Nov 1: The Supreme Court has refused to hear urgently a plea made by Karti Chidambaram to travel abroad from November 3 onwards.
The Enforcement Directorate has told a Delhi court that it is investigating the transfer of Rs 32.91 crore by Karti P Chidambaram’s firm to a Singapore-based company and another investment of Rs 15.79 crore with erstwhile French tennis player Jean-Francois Caujolle.
Karti Chidambaram was granted anticipatory bail by the Madras High Court, hours after the Income Tax department had issued a warrant against him in a case relating to black money. He was granted bail in a midnight hearing of the Madras HC.
New Delhi: Karti Chidambaram has been granted anticipatory bail by a special CBI court in Delhi. The court was hearing an application seeking arrest from arrest by the ED, which was filed by Karti in the Aircel-Maxis case.
The court while delivering the verdict directed Karti to cooperate with the investigation and also said that he shall be available for questioning when the ED seeks it.
The Central Bureau of Investigation has said that it was conducting the probe into the INX Media case without the cooperation of Karti Chidambaram, the main accused in the case.
After confirming that she had paid a bribe to Karti Chidambaram in the INX Media case, Indrani Mukerjea has now agreed to identify the location too. It may be recalled that Karti and Indrani were brought face to face at the Byculla prison in Mumbai last week.
New Delhi: It is almost 10 days since Karti Chidambaram has been in CBI custody. But, for the CBI he is turning out to be one of the most difficult prisoners, the agency has seen in a long time.
CBI sources say that he has a one line answer for every question.
A special court has remanded Karti Chidambaram to judicial custody till March 24th. This means he will be lodged at the Tihar jail until March 24.
Constantly under bright lights and not allowed to sleep is what Karti Chidambaram’s counsel told the Special CBI court which heard his remand application. Karti was remanded in CBI custody till March 12.
