The race to the post of the Chief Minister of Karnataka in case the Congress wins the elections would not be easy for Siddaramaiah. Going by reports and the various statements, it appears as though he is not the natural choice for CM although he led the party’s campaign.
The debate on who would be the chief minister of Karnataka if the Congress wins appears to be never ending. The Karnataka Congress chief, Dr. G Parameshwar has thrown the debate wide open by saying CM later, win first.
Siddaramaiah will play Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in an upcoming movie. The English-Kannada movie, Summer Holidays would see the Karnataka Chief Minister play himself. Incidentally he would become the first Chief Minister to act in a movie while in office.
Security has been stepped up around the residence of the Karnataka Chief Minister, following a bomb threat. A call had been made to the police control room at 7.55 PM on Wednesday threatening to blow up the official residence of the Chief Minister.
Police officials tell oneindia that following the call, the situation around the Chief Minister’s residence was reviewed. Security has been stepped up and a tight vigil is being maintained the officer also informed.
With the Congress Legislature Party meeting scheduled for today afternoon, the question that Karnataka is asking is who will be Chief Minister. At the moment it appears that it would be a closely contested battle between Siddaramaiah and Mallikarjuna Kharge, but the former seems to have a better chance of grabbing the post.
Siddaramaiah has an outsider tag since he has been with the Congress only for 7 to 8 years. However he has mass support and can rebel in case he is not considered for the post. The Congress would not want a rebellion as of now since they have spent the past five years speaking about the infighting in the BJP and would not want to start off on such a bad note.
