Jail term of up to two years for those found violating coronavirus lockdown

lockdown-1New Delhi, Mar 25: In the wake of a nation wide lock down announced for the next three weeks, the Union Home Ministry has issued strict guidelines to enforce the same.

The government has invoked the National Disaster Management Act under which a person violating the norms can face up to two years in jail. The Home Ministry said that Executive Magistrates will be deployed as incident commanders to oversee the implementation.

TN ministers not allowed to meet Sasikala in jail

sasi-jail1Bengaluru, Feb 21: Three ministers in the newly sworn in government of the Tamil Nadu were not allowed to meet Sasikala Natarajan at the central jail in Bengaluru.

The three ministers D Srivasan, Sengottaiyan and Sellur Raju had travelled from Chennai to meet Sasikala who is lodged in jail after she was convicted in the disproportionate assets case.

Sasikala to eat jail food, share cell with two women

Sasikala will have to eat jail cooked food and share the barrack with two women. A request for an AC cell too has been rejected by the court. Sasikala had a list of demands before she was taken to jail. They included home cooked food as well as an AC room.

Jaya- Billa number 7402

jaya2J Jayalalithaa is prisoner number 7402 and for her first meal in prison last night she was served bread, curd rice and fruits. She was then given a white saree which is the jail uniform which she will now need to wear as long as she stays in prison. Jayalalithaa was convicted for graft charges and sentenced to four years imprisonment by a special court which had also ordered her to pay a fine of Rs 100 crore.
