New Delhi, Nov 26: In a major break-through the Gujarat Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrested an accused in the 2007 Ajmer Dargah blast case. Suresh Nair, was held by the ATS at Bharuch, following a tip off that suggested he was going to visit, Shukltirth, a religious place on the banks of the Narmada river.
An accused in the 1993 Gosabara RDX landing case has been nabbed by the Gujarat ATS. The accused Kadir was nabbed following a tip off. He is currently being questioned by the ATS and sleuths of the Intelligence Bureau.
It appears as though the underworld has come into the picture once again with a view of causing communal tension in India. The 1993 Mumbai serial blasts for the first time saw the underworld and the terrorists coming together. A few days back there was an intelligence alert which stated that some groups will look to cause communal tension in the country.
There have been stray incidents over the past couple of months which have seen plots being hatched to increase the communal divide in India. Signs of the underworld being roped in to create communal tension was evident in the probe conducted by the Gujarat police into the killing of two BJP leaders at Bharuch earlier this month. The ATS has found that it was a contract given by Javed Chikna, an accused in the 1993 serial blasts case.
The investigations that were conducted after the arrest of Abu Jundal, the Lashkar-e-Tayiba handler for the 26/11 attack is taking an interesting turn. His questioning by both the Delhi and Maharashtra police revolved largely round his role in the 26/11 attack. Now with the questioning by the Gujarat police who have had him in their custody, more details about his activities in India have come to light.
