EU, NZ ready to discuss waiver of IPR on vaccines after India suggests move

New Delhi, May 07: New Zealand and the European Union too are ready to discuss the waiver of Intellectual Property Rights on vaccines against COVI

“The EU is also ready to discuss any proposal that addresses the crisis in an effective and pragmatic manner,” said European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen/ “And that’s why we are ready to discuss how the US proposal for waiver on intellectual property protection for covered vaccines could help achieve that objective,” she also said.

In a move that could upset US, China seals pact with EU

New Delhi, Dec 31: The European Union leaders and the Chinese sealed a landmark pact which would make it easier for their companies to invest in each other. President of China, Xi Jinping had earlier this month intervened to extend key market access concessions to businesses under the EU-China Comprehensive Agreement on Investment.

It was the persuasion by Xi that that made the European Union accede to the pact. Brussels expects to open up lucrative opportunities for its businesses.

Second foreign delegation to visit Jammu and Kashmir this week
