Anti CAA stir that led to riots would be covered by definition of terrorist act: Delhi Court

New Delhi, Oct 28: Acts that threaten the unity and integrity of India, in as much as causing social disharmony and creating terror in any section of the people, by making them feel surrounded resulting in violence is also a terrorist act, a Delhi court has said.

The observations were made while rejecting the bail application of a 27 year old student Asif Iqbal Tanha of the Jamia Millia Islamia in connection with the Delhi riots case.

The police accused Tanha of conspiring with former JNU student, Umar Khalid to overthrow the government by setting up a chakka jam (road block) in Muslim dominated areas.

Top-middle-foot soldiers: How the Delhi riots were orchestrated

New Delhi, Sep 17: The chargesheet filed by the Delhi Police in connection with the northeast Delhi riots suggest that there was a well oiled mechanism that orchestrated the violence.

The police said that there were three levels of conspirators-top-level, middle-level and foot soldiers, who were the rioters. Submitting its chargesheet in the case, the police said that the evidence includes WhatsApp chats of February 24.

That was the time that the violence took place and at that time the key conspirators were guiding the foot-soldiers about the violence in the area, the police further added.

In Delhi riots case, cops to show 1.1 million pages of documents to Umar Khalid

New Delhi, Sep 15: The prosecution has told a Delhi court that former JNU student, Umar Khalid arrested for his alleged role in the northeast Delhi riots has to be shown documents running into 1.1 million pages and huge technical data. 

The prosecution further contended that the examination of the witnesses revealed that Khalid was coordinating between the protest sites in Delhi in connivance with other radical groups.”Further interrogation is needed in order to unearth deep-rooted conspiracy and to collect clinching evidence to nab/arrest the remaining conspirators behind these riots During the course of investigation, names of some more suspects have also cropped up and above named accused are required to be questioned at length about those suspects to obtain their exact particulars for further investigation,” the remand application by the Delhi Police read.

Delhi riots: When Indian Muslims played into the hands of SIMI, ISIS

In the year 1996, the Students Islamic Movement of India had issued a statement. It said that democracy and secularism had failed to protect the Indian Muslims. The sole option now is to fight for a Caliphate, the SIMI had said.

The statement is eerily similar to the one put out by the Islamic State during the northeast Delhi riots. The ISIS too had said on its Telegram channel that it was time for the Indian Muslims to unite and overthrow the democratically elected government.
