Post Gen Rawat’s demise, Pak using conspiracy theories to create unrest in India

New Delhi, Dec 16: The sudden death of Chief of Defence Staff, General Bipin Rawat came as a rude shock. However the disinformation campaign in Pakistan seems to be in overdrive mode suggesting all sorts of conspiracy theories.

Many said that it could be a strike by insurgents, while others called it an internal hit job. One of the most common claims being made by the Pakistanis is that the chopper in which General Rawat was travelling was shot down by the now defunct Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam. The LTTE was defeated by the Sri Lankan forces in 2009.

Year 2021: When India lost its first CDS and most beloved Commander Gen. Rawat

New Delhi, Dec 11: As the year 2021 was getting set to end, India witnessed an extreme tragic event in the passing away of the country’s first Chief of Defence Staff, General Bipin Rawat.

“Gen Bipin Rawat, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) was on a visit to Defence Services Staff College, Wellington (Nilgiri Hills) to address the faculty and student officers of the Staff Course today,” the IAF said in a statement.

New Delhi, Dec 09: The sudden and tragic demise of Chief of Defence Staff, General Bipin Rawat has not only shaken up the nation, but also thrown up a very difficult question on succession.

General Rawat had a proven track record on delivery and that makes it even more difficult to find a replacement easily. The government has the task of appointing a new CDS from the Indian Army and it is expected to follow the same pattern. The overall merit cum seniority is what would be considered before appointing a new CDS.

The rules say that all service chiefs can be considered for the post. Its says that a General who can provide sound and single point advise to the government can be considered for the post of CDS.

What may have gone wrong with Gen Rawat’s chopper: An Air Marshal explains 

New Delhi, Dec 09: The death of Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat in a military chopper crash has perplexed many. The Indian Air Force had on Wednesday said that it has ordered an inquiry into the incident.

The flight time from Sulur to Wellington is around 40 minutes and it would be hard to determine what may have gone wrong in such a short duration of time.

Air Marshal B K Pandey tells OneIndia that the incident is unfortunate. From what I am gathering is the rotor of the chopper may have hit the tree as a result of which the crash may have occurred. Moreover the weather was very foggy at the time of the incident he also added. However I would wait for the court of inquiry to establish what went wrong, Air Marshal Pandey also said.

New Delhi, Dec 09: On December 8, India lost one of its bravest sons, Chief of Defence Staff, General Bipin Rawat. In the chopper crash that took place at Nilgiris on Wednesday, 12 others including General Rawat’s wife Madhulika, Rawat.

It would be extremely hard to fill in the vacuum left behind by General Rawat. He was known for his aggressive approach towards counterinsurgency operations in Jammu and Kashmir.
