From Narada to Maharashtra extortion case, Jaiswal has task cut out as CBI boss

New Delhi, May 26: Subodh Kumar Jaiswal was chosen to head the Central Bureau of Investigation by a high-powered committee headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Subodh Kumar Jaiswal is an IPS officer of the 1985 batch of the Maharashtra cadre. He is a former Director General of Police, Maharashtra succeeding Dattatray Padsalgikar on February 28 2019.

Crucial PM led meet today to select CBI chief: Here are the front-runners

New Delhi, May 24: A high powered committee headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be meeting today to decide and select the next chief of the Central Bureau of Investigation. 

Chief Justice of India, N V Ramanna and Opposition Leader, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary will be part of the meeting which is expected to take place at 7 pm today. While Rakesh Asthana, Y C Modi and Subodh Jaiswal are the front-runners, officers from the 1984, 1985 and 1986 batches are also under consideration.

Praveen Sinha to look after CBI duties with immediate effect

New Delhi, Feb 03: With the tenure of the current CBI chief, R K Shukla’s ending today, Praveen Sinha shall with immediate effect resume duties as the interim director. He shall look after the duties of CBI director until further orders.

Sources tell OneIndia that the high-powered committee headed by the Prime Minister would decide on the next chief and until then an acting chief would be in place.

Alok Verma appointed new CBI chief

alokvermaNew Delhi, Jan 20: Delhi Police Commissioner Alok Verma has been appointed the new Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation. His name was approved by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Verma will take over from interim director Rakesh Asthana. He will serve for a period of two years. Verma’s name was cleared by a collegium comprising Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Justice of India Jagdish Singh Khehar and Congress leader in Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge.

New Delhi, Jan 17: Who will be the next chief of the Central Bureau of Investigation? Sources indicate that Delhi Police Commissioner Alok Verma, is a front-runner for the post.

The collegium comprising the prime minister, leader of opposition and the Chief Justice of India which met on Monday discussed various names to head the prestigious post. The post of CBI chief has been lying vacant for the past two months.

Rakesh Asthana to take over new CBI chief today

rakesh-asthanaNew Delhi, Dec 2: Rakesh Asthana will take over as the new director of the Central Bureau of Investigation. He takes over from Anil Sinha who retires today. Asthana is a 1984 batch IPS officer from Gujarat. On Thursday, Asthana was made in charge of the CBI.

He was elevated two days back when Special Director R K Dutta was moved to the Home Ministry as a Special Secretary. This was for the first time that such a post had been created in the Home Ministry.
