New Delhi, Jan 8: The Supreme Court has reinstated Alok Verma as the CBI chief. The verdict said that he be reinstated but also added that Verma cannot take any major policy decision till the decision of the selection committee.
New Delhi, Jan 20: Delhi Police Commissioner Alok Verma has been appointed the new Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation. His name was approved by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Verma will take over from interim director Rakesh Asthana. He will serve for a period of two years. Verma’s name was cleared by a collegium comprising Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Justice of India Jagdish Singh Khehar and Congress leader in Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge.

The collegium comprising the prime minister, leader of opposition and the Chief Justice of India which met on Monday discussed various names to head the prestigious post. The post of CBI chief has been lying vacant for the past two months.
New Delhi, Dec 2: Rakesh Asthana will take over as the new director of the Central Bureau of Investigation. He takes over from Anil Sinha who retires today. Asthana is a 1984 batch IPS officer from Gujarat. On Thursday, Asthana was made in charge of the CBI.
He was elevated two days back when Special Director R K Dutta was moved to the Home Ministry as a Special Secretary. This was for the first time that such a post had been created in the Home Ministry.
