New Delhi, Aug 14: The win for the NDA in the Rajya Sabha deputy chairman elections was a major victory for the combine and a blow for the opposition. The jubilant scenes in the BJP camp following Harivansh’s victory were quite expected.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik did not attend the swearing-in of HD Kumaraswamy as the chief minister of Karnataka today as the BJD maintains an equal distance from the Congress and the BJP, a party leader said. Patnaik, who is the BJD president, did not attend the swearing-in in Bengaluru that was held on Wednesday.
In Odisha, the Biju Janata Dal may have won, but it is the BJP which is smiling the most. The results for the Odisha Zilla Parishad elections held in five phases saw the BJD bagging 473 out of the 846 seats.
The BJP however was the biggest gainer with 297 seats.
