Take lockdown seriously, use the law against violators: Centre tells states

lockdown1New Delhi, Mar 23: Upset with the manner in which the states are implementing lockdowns, the Centre has said that this needs to be taken more seriously.

In a directive to all the states, the Centre today said that the lockdowns need to be implemented more seriously. The Centre also advised the states to act legally against those violating the lockdown in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.

NPR to be postponed due to COVID-19 outbreak: Announcement shortly

The matter has been discussed several times over the past week and the government may make an official announcement regarding this in the next couple of days. Further the Home Ministry is also monitoring the situation to decide on whether the Census 2021 exercise should also be postponed or not.

COVID-19 spread in Pakistan could impact regional security

Indian medical team in Italy to test stranded Indians amidst coronavirus outbreak

coronavirusNew Delhi, Mar 14: A medical team from India reached Italy to test stranded Indian nationals including students for coronavirus. The Indians will be brought back home after the tests are completed. Initially the embassy had requested Italy to arrange for testing of Indian nationals.
However Italy expressed its inability as it was already under pressure owing its own health emergency. Hence it was decided to send an Indian medical team so that the stranded Indians could be tested and brought back.

India’s biggest naval exercise, Milan put off amidst coronavirus scare

navy3New Delhi, Mar 04: The Indian Navy has decided to defer its biggest maritime exercise, Milan in the wake of rising cases of coronavirus infections outside China. The development has been confirmed by officials on condition of anonymity.

It may be recalled that the multi nation naval drills were to begin at Visakhapatnam from March 19 to March 28. The new dates have not been finalised, but the exercise is being postponed due to the coronavirus scare, the official above told OneIndia.

Domestic arbitration, foreign awards need separate acts: SC judge

New Delhi, Feb 16: There should have been two arbitration acts — one for domestic and another for foreign awards — because the regimes are entirely different, Supreme Court judge Indu Malhotra said at a conference here on Saturday.

Justice Malhotra was speaking on “Arbitration Highlights Need to Shift From Ad Hoc to Institutional Arbitration” at the 12th annual international arbitration conclave, organised by Nani Palkhivala Arbitration Centre (NPAC), according to a statement.

missile1New Delhi, Feb 07: A new tactical ballistic missile is being readied by India. The missile being developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has been named as Pransh.

The missile is capable of striking targets at a range of 200 kilometres. It may be recalled that the DRDO had developed the Prahaar missile which has a range of 150 kilometres. The Army wanted a missile with more range and hence the Pransh is being developed.
