India’s longest Dhola-Sadiya bridge, a loud message to China

dholasaidyaPrime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate India’s longest bridge, the Dhola-Sadiya bridge in Assam today. The 9.15 km-bridge will connect Dhola on the Brahmaputra’s south bank to Sadiya on the north.

While the bridge is longer than the 5.6 kilometre Bandra-Worli sea link in Mumbai, there is more to it than just the length of the same. The bridge will send out a message to China as it would help the Indian Army in swift mobilisation and movement of troops and heavy equipment to the frontier areas. The Army has been demanding for this bridge for long.
