Senior Congress leader, Mallikarjuna Kharge is in trouble with the Lokayukta probing a case that alleges that he owns Rs 50,000 crore worth of property, according to reports. The allegation is that he has amassed wealth disproportionate to his known source of income and hence a complaint under Prevention of Corruption Act was filed against him.
The complaint has been filed by B Rathnakar, the General Secretary of the Samaj Parivarthan Samithi who has alleged that Kharge has amassed a huge amount of wealth by misusing his office while he was a minister. The Raichur wing of the Lokayukta is conducting an inquiry into the matter. Lokayukta officials tell OneIndia that they are looking into the complaint and are conducting a thorough probe of the allegations. The Lokayukta, however added that they are inquiring into the complaint and if the allegations have merit then an FIR would be filed and case registered.
